Laboratory activities:
- Monitoring of quarantine and most widespread weed plants
- Herbological examination of seed material for the presence of impurities from large-, medium-, and small-seeded plants
- Identification of a weed plant based on morphological characteristics of seeds and fruits up to the species level
- Identification of a weed plant to species level using a herbarium specimen
- Formation and maintenance of a collection of weed plant seeds
- Determination of sowing qualities of crop seeds (germination and germination energy of large-, medium-, and small-seeded plants)
- Determination of the weight of 1000 seeds
- Determination of seed purity and waste
- Conducting laboratory herbological analysis
Services provided:
- Examination of seed samples for contamination
- Determination of seed germination energy and germinability
- Identification of a weed plant (to genus and species) based on external and internal morphological characteristics of seeds and fruits
Main functions of the laboratory:
Detection and identification of weed seeds, as well as particularly dangerous and quarantine weeds, in seed materials and soil samples.
Strategic goal:
Use of the laboratory’s research facilities to provide paid consulting services for weed plant identification.
